Do you ever wonder whether God really cares whether you pray or not? I know sometimes I wonder whether He evens hears me when I pray. All through the bible we are told to pray and showed examples of how we should pray and that it is a good thing to pray.
Lets take a look at some scriptures that tell us to pray. All through the Old testament there is accounts of how different ones prayed to have their prayers answered. Hannah prayed for a child, Daniel prayed no matter the circumstances. David prayed to God all the time. In the New testament it is commanded to pray. Mark 11:24 Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.
Luke 11:1-4
One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, “Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.”
2He said to them, “When you pray, say:
” ‘Father,[a]
hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.[b]
3Give us each day our daily bread.
4Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who sins against us.[c]
And lead us not into temptation.[d]‘ ”
The Lords prayer is probably the best example we have that the Lord wants us to pray. He tells us to pray and how to pray.
My answer is yes we need to pray, that is our communication with our Heavenly Father. He wants to talk with us and to know how we feel. He wants to give us our hearts desire and forgive us and make us strong.
If you don’t know how to pray just look at the scriptures of the Lords prayer and say it out loud. Jesus is waiting to hear from you and to talk to you and walk with you in your everyday struggles. If you are reading this and you haven’t asked Jesus to come into your heart and to be your Lord and Saviour I incourage you to ask Him to be your personal Saviour. All you have to do is say Jesus I am a sinner, I have done wrong and I would like forgiveness please come into my life and make me a new creature in you. In Jesus name Amen!
Good on ya, Janeice, for your first entry. Well said!! Keep at it!
I had a neat experience with prayer the other day. I was praying that I would live my faith better and that God would help me to overcome my many weaknesses, I was really feeling unworthy to do my religious duties. When I was done praying, I opened Exodus, where I was currently reading, and the word corruption stuck out to me and it had a footnote, I don’t remember where it sent me, but the verses I read were exactly what I needed to hear from my prayer. It mentioned that we are all unworthy, but to go forth with confidence and faithfulness and God will uphold you (paraphrased). It really humbled me to realize that God really does hear and answer prayers. http://www.dryflypolitics.com
